Happy Holidays

Yet another time another day,
Festive season, they call it
Am supposed to be joyous but my heart is filled with sadness
Disturbing memories
Tents and camps still on sight,
Lets make this season merry for all
Remember all your neighbours

A new dawn was set, ages ago
For the cause of humanity
Built with love as the foundation
Now replaced by hatred and immorality
Remember the weak
With a true smile and warm heart!
As He says...

Get rid of that frown
Get rid of your foul mood
And get on the happy plane
Get on the holiday train
Coz Christmas is here

*** The contributors of the blog Wamathai wish everyone a Merry Xmas & a happy and blessed 2010. ***

Christmas Wish

As I lay on my bed
And let my fingers do the typing
I can't help but think of my past
They say let the bygones be bygones
But the past has moulded the person I am
I have had my losses
I have shed many tears
I have had a thousand smiles
I have let myself experience the journey
It has been a sentimental journey
But love and hope is still a dear part of me
That I cannot live without
No matter what!
Do wishes come true?
I dream,and will dream again
I have a christmas wish
For me,my family and dear ones
I wish to wake up to a new world
Where the meaning of freedom is really true
Where people respect each other
And accept their choices
Regardless of religion,race/tribe,sexuality
Where we all get along
Working together to create
Peace and harmony among us
And at the wake of each dawn
We are greeted by smiles
I am tired of seeing war on the news
I am tired of malicious gossip
I am tired of seeing children cry
I am tired of seeing hopelessness and poverty
My wish is all disease could be gone
That the likes of surgeries and chemotherapies
Are unheard of
My wish is to see
anger and strife
replaced with positivity
I wish there will always be food on the table
And that you and I may always remember the less fortunate
I wish for time, that we may all reflect
On the blessings we have
And express our love to our loved ones
May we never feel lonely
Because there are those who care
I do care
And may we realize
We are special, unique and we can make a difference
Not only in christmas but all year through
I wish for my thoughts to be positive ones
That I may never quit and never give up on my dreams
And that I may continue to learn
And be sorrounded by love, peace and joy
My christmas wish is that I
Find my one true love and soul mate
To hold close to me
And journey with me
My christmas wish is that thy pains
And bleeding scars deep within us
May forever heal
And replaced with beautiful memories
These wishes come from my heart
Happy holidays and happy new year too!
Always remember that I love you!

Christmas Day

It’s been long since I saw you
But judging from your look
You look better with each year
Aging like Fine wine

I waited for you all year round
For you are the only one who
Brings all of us together and that’s
Why you’re special

Every year I always wonder what
Gift you’ve brought me for last
Year’s gift was the best but this year
I would like to spend you with my
Family and friends for you are
The only one who can bring us
Together and for only one reason
Alone and that’s why you’re so
Special

*** Happy holidays to everyone ***

My Baby (Not)

He plucked the strings so softly
And held his baby so close to him
His baby sounded... beautiful
He played amazingly

I sat there admiring and smiling
I got carried away by the sweet melody
My mind and soul were lost in the tunes
Until reality struck home, the melody the tunes were not for me...

They sat there embracing each other
He held her ever so close and tight
Like he would have held me...
He looked deep into her eyes, like he loved her...

I couldn't stand it, it irritated me
I felt like the script was written wrong
I was meant to be his Cinderella...
Instead i felt like the ugly step sister...

That was the last night i would see them
The last night i would enjoy a song not dedicated to me
The last night i would be jealous of a man who was never mine
That was the last night i felt so alone in a world full of people....

Almost but Thank God.

From the fresh air..to the stale smell..
your perfume clogged my nostrils..I didn't feel the damp..
I ventured through the door and proceed,
To the streets of your being..I lowered my shades,
To brighten the glare, for a clearer view.

I saw something that was Unfortunately rare,
The sight moved my heart, deep inside me,
I heard the Meeaa-aawooow!!of a frail cat..
Bad Omen..maybe,maybe not..but No..we are a perfect fit..Little Did I know..:-)(

The city lights shone, well through the night,
A scene that had many characters,What I didn't know..
You were the movie Director..The Player..

They chipped, nagged and pulled at me...
I continued walking,As far as the sight of my eyes could reach...
As far as my heart could still beat,my feet could still move..
How was I to sense that the Tide was rising?

Then I remembered The days you said,.."maybe next time babe..it's twisted"
All the nights you spent away from me,
It was JUNK that I had been carrying on my back..
filling my 'innocent;'blank mind..

I started running...
Praying the I'd rise above the Road that was wide and filled with self-love..
I wished myself Luck, hoping that I'd reach The exit before 'TIMEOUT'
And I did....almost lost my soul...But thank God..

Fragrance Of My Being

I held you with my might,
In the still of the night,
You ruled my mind....
Enfolded me in your arms,I heard a tender rhapsody,
Masculine Vs Feminine......
Sweet fragrance on my garment.

Warm soft hands on anxious flesh...
You caressed my hair with your tender fingers..
Smoochy lips on sweet cheeks..Wet lips on my sensitive neck..
Sweenyomination...then..Mwaaarrrrhhhh!!!!!......hhhhh!!!

I look upon that taim as a fountain of sweet waters,
A sort of perfumed garden,a dim twilight..
I hope my eyes spoke my heart, for you left me speechless...
A lot for my being to hold..

They say...This feeling is as that with ghosts..
everyone talks about it,but few have seen..
But am not talking bout it..am letting my feelings known..
Because I found it amazing, not just the ordinary.

Its true..you never lose if You give something willingly,
Fragrance always remains with the hands that give the Rose..

Anything can turn out to be something...
I don't know what this will turn out to be,but either way..I'll stay..
because nothing in a caterpillar tells you it will turn into a butterfly...

It's That Time

It's that time of year again,
When toddlers beg for toys and new dresses,
When parents remember the routes to their rural addresses,
When chicken quiver and goats shiver,
When the Messiah is born and we feel reborn,
When we gulp down drinks, dine and whine about the things we make resolves to fix,
When we remember those who passed on,and those we can only reach by phone,
When we dance around in crazy fits with disbelief how the months just flint,
When we countdown to the New Year with hugs, smiles & loudest cheer!

Baby Jesus

Innocent baby, lying in a manger, angels watching singing lullabies.
The big shining twinkling star provided light for the wisemen as they travelled to worship by his cradle. Little baby Jesus lay in hay as the animals looked down on him in adoration. Alas a plot was afoot to put out this new innocent light that was shining. In darkness the family fled into the night, seeking sanctuary. My sweet loving baby Jesus, from birth some loved you and worshipped you as the Messiah and King while others plotted your death, that blood shall be spilt and the cry of a mother would be heard through the night.

Merry Christmas baby Jesus thank you for shedding your blood so that i may have life. Thank you for the light you shown in the darkness of Christmas day. Merry Christmas my Lord Jesus. Merry Christmas one and all.

Cedric

Most people know Cedric from the Tusker Project Fame I and they wrongly assume that that was his first stint in music. His musical journey actually started in 2000 when he formed the group Sapiens with his friends. It didn’t really go anywhere. In 2001 he recorded his first song “Sasa baby gal” at Kilele Records in Mombasa. During this period he performed at various clubs including Mamba International Discotheque, Tembo International Discotheque and Club Toyz. In 2003 he moved to Nairobi he recorded his first album (it was self-titled) at South West records. The album was never released because of financial difficulty and the producer also left the country indefinitely. He describes that experience as a low point for him.

After that he took part in several star search competitions while producing music at Kelele. He took part in the Red Entertainment star search and Najivunia kuwa Mkenya competition and emerged the winner and 1st runners up respectively. In 2006 he took part in the Tusker Project Fame I where he emerged 3rd runners up. He received a lot of useful vocal and management training while in the Tusker Project Fame academy which was a big help to his career in music.

After that he went back to university to complete his undergraduate degree in Agriculture and Human ecology from Egerton University. His time in university saw him juggling class work and performances in Nakuru town. He is now signed up with the Iconic Music label which is under the Random Group Ltd. Umbrella. He is about to release his new album ‘is this Love’ The video of the first single ‘Wazi Wazi’ is here below.

To find out more about him join his group 'Cedric' on facebook.

Merry Christmas (Not!)

Silent night, creeps in the dark plains
As the fire brings the kith and kin closer
The little ones gather round the experienced
With joy and expectations....
...but there is nothing to share
The pots are empty as the dark sky above.

The merry that made Christmas is no more,
Only the 'able' still see the sense
And long to bond,
Enjoying their hard-earned sweat,
Of pulling the weak down

The young and feeble live in tented camps
As beggars with empty pots to scoop
And gyrating wet eyes,
Cursing the heavens
For their unplanned predicament.

Suppose He were to be born today
Wouldn't He weep?
Looking at the depleted environment, carefree society
Languishing children and widows
And yes, irreligious world,
Worshiping money, like the Biblical Pharisees
And wish to go back to HIS Father... saddened!

All Smiles

No matter how many tears i shed
Not even an atom can bring you
Neither can the river that i cry.

If i were the chosen child
I would not want to see anyone cry
Instead, I would like to see you smile.

If i were the chosen child
I would not want to see anyone cry
I would not want my memories to bring tears.

If I were the chosen child
I would like to see you all laughing
I would like my memories to bring laughter.

Although i am not the chosen child
I know deep down in my heart
That you would not want to bring tears.

Throughout your life, you strived to bring joy
It gave us a motivation and a goal
Now it gives us pleasure to see you rest.

Your legacy will go on for many generations to come
Never will it be forgotten.
Now as we r to see you off
We will cry tears of sadness and joy
But we will always remember you in smiles.

Masked Lover

I can’t sleep, not like I used to
I can’t breath in and out like I need to,
not after what he did to me,
I was trying to paint a picture of him,
But the colours were all wrong,
Black and white didn’t fit.

He knew how to love without being told,
Was everything I’m not,
without him loneliness felt everlasting
But now I've let go,
I was living with his silhouette and not the real him,
He was painted in lies, deception and corrupt thoughts,
That was what she said, I didn’t believe her but now I do,
I caught him. No, them...he and the girl next door...

In my camera phone lies the evidence I need,
It screws up my insides every time I zoom the image,
I clutch my pillow and bitter hot tears run down my cheeks
And now I know
He always had it on....and I never knew the real lover.....

If Only

If only for just this one night you would stop running through my mind
If only there were zero miles between us
If only I could feel the warmth of your embrace
If only you were near to whisper sweetness into my ears
If only your words could give me comfort and peace
If only I could gaze into the future and see us old together...
If only I could know what you feel and what you want
If only tonight we could be counting stars on the sky
If only every night I could feel your soft breath on my neck
If only every morning I could wake up beside you smiling
If only every evening you could join me watch the beautiful sunset
If only just one day I could cook for you a special meal
If only I could stare at your eyes and see nothing but love
If only I could whisper into your ears that I love you
If only we could make sweet love
If only my dreams could come true
If only you could take my hand and journey with me!

I Love You

Last night was the longest night
I have had in a long time
It beat the record of a sleepless night
I looked at you as you were sleeping
A thought crossed my mind
I must have been a fool
To let you go
and am even a bigger fool
Letting you back in

I look at you more and more
Wondering how you sleep
Looking so content
Have done so much
I see nothing wrong
You weren't there
You too have done much
Have heard,
my jealousy is getting over me
I cant point fingers
Haven't been the best

It finally dawns on me
I love you to bits
You make my days
Even in your absentia
I love you

Happy Birthday Kenya

You may be 46 years old today
But you don't look it
You are actually more beautiful today
Than you were last year
Happy Birthday Kenya
I pray that you celebrate many many more

I Know

I know that we have just met
But there is this thing about you
The way we sit on the floor and write poetry
The way we laugh while we make love

I know that we have just met
But I am always thinking about you
The way I want you and I know you want me too
The way we seem to fit so well together

I know that I have just met you
But this is just too good to be true
The way we…
Oh!!! Its just you!

Hopeless & Faceless

I am a child,
I was born out of genuine love
And like all the other children in the world,
I was desired, wanted and expected.
If you were to speak for me today what would you say?

I am innocent,
And I need equal opportunities with the other children,
I need to be protected,
And I need to be loved too.

Look at me,
Look me in the eyes and tell the world what you see.
I have a great future ahead of me,
If only you could have a little compassion for me,
Maybe then, I would have the energy and the will to pursue my dreams.

But you adults instead push me away,
You call me names,
You say am a drug addict,
You say am a thief
You forget to protect me in the least way possible,
And so I would love to know

How am I supposed to speak for myself when am so helpless?
How am I supposed to live a honest and straight life when,
All that I know is pain and no love?
How am I supposed to live when all of you are hostile towards me?
How am I supposed to live in this society??

You are all strong,
You all have the ability,
You have the means,
If only you had the will,
I ask once again…………..
If you were to speak for me today what would you say??
Am the hopeless, nameless and faceless chokora.

I.M.

I was online recently and I got the following IM (Instant Message) from someone I know.

Her: Hello…Cupid called. He says to tell you I need my heart back. You make my heart melt.
Come here you. Come on. Closer. Closer. (Laughing) Please stop… (more laughing) I’m dying over here.
Buh-Bye! Buh-Bye now. Buh –Bye!

Me: If the message is indeed mine then I’m touched on so many levels

Her: Who is this?

Me: Wamathai

At that point she signed off. I’m assuming the message wasn’t mine. :)

I am Just Here

I sit here missing and thinking about you
Wondering how you are and all

I’m deeply buried in solitude
Carrying on with this craze feeling
That transcends humanity

I’m sitting here holding your picture
The smiling beauty
Enchanted warmth with isolated hiccups
It’s but only thing about you
That I can cling on at the moment
Hoping that it’s passing my feelings over
And making you see me
As I’m seeing you in my heart

My dear, your picture can’t talk to me
It just stands like a statue
Carved out of a soapstone, that it smiles permanently
I can only think that you are also in my world
Sharing my feelings, emotions, tears and empty smiles

But when we meet, we look at each other
With an ostentation hatred
Coupled with pregnant silence
That it looks and feels like a graveyard

Though I love and want you
Would die and breathe for you,
I still feel an empty loneliness a suspicious hatred
Like an empty hollow log
Exhaling from your heart, mind and soul

I hate saying This

How well do I get to enjoy the fruit of your love
Because I feel your denial
That I no longer exist in your world
And you’ve given me a tirade jabbering
Whenever I need some unconditional warmth from you?

We vowed with agility and determination
To put on blinders and race to the end of our earthly sojourn
But it seems my exhaustion
Has led to your limping ego and reserved ego

I try to stand up and join in the track
But my little and fragile legs betray me
I still feel the strength
Though dampened by your kicks and blows

Now I fear the worst is likely
And my heart is in denial,
For yours stopped living and loving a go!

My Dear

If i do not say 'I love you' often,
Its not that I do not any more;
But rather I am just trying new ways,
To prove it to you.

If I do not hold you
As I held others,
It’s not that anything has changed,
I just want you to show me
How I should hold you.

If I should stop kissing
Like I used to;
It’s not that the feeling’s gone,
I just want your lips to teach mine
How else you want me to kiss.

If I should make you cry,
As I might inadvertently do;
It’s not that I revel in your tears,
But rather through your tears
Do I know that you still care.

If you should find me
Staring at another,
It’s not that I long to stray,
But rather I am thanking the One above,
That I got the best of them all.

If you should catch me
Aloof and deep in thought,
It’s not that I do not care to listen,
But rather sometimes I still can’t believe
That I have you to myself.

If I should say no,
Every once in a while,
It’s not that someone else does it better,
But in a world defined by sex,
I just want ours to be different.

If you should wake up
And find me gone
Without a word of goodbye,
It’s not that I did not enjoy last night,
But rather sometimes, my heart speaks best,
In the absence of your love.

If I should leave you
And break your heart,
It’s not that someone else has my heart,
No; that is your alone, but rather
Know that I loved you enough,
To let you go.

If my time should come
That I should die and leave you all alone,
I hope that deep down you’ll know
That it will always only be you
That I will love.

Weird Things that Happen

Do a good thing and never get mentioned
Do something bad or make a mistake however,
And the news spread like bush fire

Write something and they only focus
On what they don’t like
The rest is forgotten

Do something wrong
And they judge you by it all your life

He lies about what happened
But just because he is in a position of power
Everyone believes him

Lose when you play well
But win when you are not at your best

Work hard for weeks on something
And they don’t even like it
But make up something on the spot and they love it

I Don't Care

I really don’t see the need of showing love,
Living a saint’s life
Or allow you to slap my cheeks
Because He tells us to do so
I need you to give me my dues, and stop this rant
About helping me

If there is nothing for you to offer
Let me fly, fly away like a bird
And find solace in my heart.

Does it really make sense when you lower me,
Destroy my life
And still cling to Him,
Showering accolades of love, peace and eternity
But not give me my dues?

I don’t really care whether He died for my sins
Yours or nobody’s
Because now, He’s not here
To sort you out!

He came, saw, and was killed
Because of the infirmities
Associated with your likes
Who think the rest are mortals

I don’t care, whether He resurrected after three days
But need my dues,
Or I’ll send you to your grave!

I love you
Truth is you were my first love, my only love
I don’t care about the bad things they say about you
All the lies that they spread about you
You are mine, nothing and no one will ever make me leave you

Success

People who have the mentality of the rich never accept a no for a final answer. They know the value of patience. They understand that persistence and determination influence people.

Success depends much more on psychological quality rather than intelligence or pure expertise.

NOTE:

Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not, nothing in the world is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not, unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not, the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent.

Friendship & Friends

True friends are like the mornings, you cant have them the whole day but you can be sure that they will be there when you wake up tomorrow.

The secret of friendship is not finding the perfect person but loving and caring for the imperfect person perfectly.

Our lives are not measured by how many years we have but by the kind things we do and the happiness we give to others.

Friends are like birds we cant decide which ones fly over our heads but we can decide which ones build their nests in our hearts.

Friends influence us either positively or negatively, choosing friends carefully gives us the full potential of being successful.

No man is an island. No one can hope to be successful without the help of the people around him

Goodbye

You have seen me through a lot
I wouldn't have my sanity if it weren't for you
I love you, you are special to me
When I'm with you i go to a happy place
A perfect match is what we are
I am addicted to you
Unfortunately my relationship with you lately
borders on obsession
And it will destroy me if it continues
So i have no choice but to let you go
Goodbye.....

My Neighbour

I live with a friend of mine on the outskirts of Nairobi. The residents of our apartment block largely keep to themselves hence interactions are rare. One neighbour however, has always been friendly to us since we moved in. She is the one we go to if we want to borrow something . One day I came home only to realize that I had left my keys at the office. I was really screwed since my housemate was out of the country and it was too late to go back to the office so I headed to my neighbour’s house hoping she would come up with a solution. After I explained my predicament she stepped out to phone her sister. It turned out that the sister lived nearby, alone and worked nights. She did not have a problem with me spending the night at her place and so my neighbour, who had a spare key, took me there. She gave me a quick tour of the house and then showed me where I would sleep. She left with the key reasoning that since the door was self locking then I wouldn’t need it. She would come to check up on me in the morning in any case. I found it odd but I didn’t say anything. I ate some food that she had brought for me and went to bed after that. Roughly two hours later, I felt a warm naked body get into bed with me. It was my neighbour. I tried to speak but she kissed me and proceeded to strip me of the few items of clothing I had. I did not resist.
